Bang crash wallop

31 Aug

Yep, we’ll be making a right old din in the park this week.  And it will be hot and sunny! ‘Hurrah’ we hear you shout!

We’ll have a sound garden to explore, and the chance to make a take-home tin can bongo, kazoo or shaker in discovery time. Our  lovely music tepee will be making a welcome comeback too.

Kate’s been foraging for cake ingredients (wild damsons, allotment blueberries and raspberries), so if it all gets a bit too noisy, you can grab a restorative cuppa from the cafe chaps, and enjoy a darn fine slice of cake.

We’ll have the usual messy play stuff, playdough and discovery tubs, so there should be enough fun for all ages (older, school-age children very welcome).

Singing in the rain flashmob, anyone?

24 Aug

We’d planned for this week to be all about sunshine – a celebration of the summer bathed in balmy breezes. But the weather has decided otherwise, again, so instead we’ll be frolicking in the rain. We’ll be making some rain art, doing a spot of cloud inspecting, and exploring rainbows.

Welly boots are probably a must, and if we have a few umbrellas, we might just have a potential flash mob for under fives on our hands. If Gene Kelly isn’t a regular feature at song time in your house (why ever not?!) you might want to get in a little light practice before Friday!

Der de deh der-de, der de der-de deh der-de

No park adventures this week…

17 Aug

Sorry – due to unexpected circumstances, we won’t be playing in the park this week, but join us next week…

…when we’ll either be exploring the sun (if it is sunny!) or tracks we and animals make.

Bye for now

Into the woods

10 Aug

We’ll be making like imps, elves and fairies this week with some woodland themed fun and games.

Join us in making a dingly  dell, or for a spot of leaf bashing, printing and painting.

We’ll have many of our usual messy play and outdoor activities to explore too, and older children are very welcome to join us…

See you all soon

Come on in, the water’s fine…

2 Aug

And other jolly, encouraging, and generally irritating things people say when they are trying to get you wet.

Luckily, we won’t be having to use such wily ways at Wild Things this week, because thankfully, small people seem to take to water like… well (sorry – a bit obvious, but we have to…) ducks.

So we’ll be letting their instincts take over with water bomb mayhem (come prepared with spare clothes?), rainbow ice sculptures, lovely boat and raft making, and our DIY outdoor water course.

There’ll be fishing games, fishy friends and lots of exploration areas for really little ones to get wet with too.

And the sun WILL be shining! (Maybe)
